This is group is the longest ministering music ensemble at St. Therese.
With the reforms of the Second Vatican Council, a huge Rennaisance occurred within Catholic liturgical music. Artists such as the St. Louis Jesuits and the monks of Weston Priory composed simple, folk style songs that were enthusiastically received by English speaking Catholics. The Folk Group at St. Therese was formed in order to involve the youth in the liturgy with these catchy tunes that engaged the assembly in worship.
Today it is open to 7th through 12 graders and has evolved its repertoire to contain the folk classics of the St. Louis Jesuits and the Dameans in conjuction with the more recent contemporary compositions of Steve Angrisano and Matt Maher.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 8pm - 9:30pm.
This group provides music weekly at the 9:30 AM Sunday mass, part of the Triduum, and other liturgical celebrations throughout the year.
Come have fun with us!
